Question:
Lost about 70 lbs on lap band in 2006. Got pregnant and not can not loose the weight
It has been over a yr since I had my child. I can not loose the weight and do not feel any restriction. It is worse than never loosing the weight in the first place. I feel I have once again lost my life. I have good insurance. Can I have a new band or update it? Used a barium swallow and the Dr. said hardly anything is getting through. I assure you it is. I keep gaining with no feeling of restriction. Have gone through a year of getting fills and having them taken out. Please help me. I have become severely depressed and fat again. — [Deactivated Member] (posted on August 9, 2010)

Are you eating slider foods or sticking to the meal plan that the doctor
assigns? Remember, dense proteins first, then veggies and then just a
little carbs.
A new band wont' likely make a difference, but you could consider a
revision to another surgery if you think it would benefit you.
Don't give up hope! You can find a way to be healthier for your family and
yourself.

Some people in your position talk to their surgeons to see if they are
candidates for RNY. I am not sure if you are in that mindset yet but it is
an option for you.
Will keep you in my prayers.....

I had the RNY but I can say this: When we get in a funk where we can't
lose, people will say to drink more water, bump up your protein and try to
get a little more exercise. Your body might be used to the same routine so
change things up a little, eat different, you want to jump start your
metabolism. Write down the foods you eat each day and then the next day
reflect on them to see where you need to make adjustments. Don't let this
get you depressed or you will have a hard time fighting off the food demon.
It will take over and let you overeat, stay focused and journal your food,
exercise and you should see a difference. Best wishes to you.

I'm sorry you're feeling discouraged. I agree with the person who
mentioned slider foods. Solid, semi-dry or dry proteins are the best for
us. There is an employee at Weight Wise in Edmond, OK. Jamie has a band
and has had a baby. She is an EXCELLENT resource. 359-2473 is the number
to the hospital. She works in the clinic. Good luck.
