Question:
Up-front fee for a revision...
I am going for a revision, had Lap Band removed in Dec 2007. I saw the surgeon yesterday, his office said that no matter what insurance you have their is an up-front fee that might or might not be covered by your insurance. I live in California.... has anyone heard of this? — Kathleen O. (posted on December 8, 2009)

I had to pay an upfront fee of $890.00 to cover the costs that weren't
covered by insurance. I had an RNY and it was my first surgery for gastric
surgery. It's not unusual at all now days to have a fee like that. Hope
this helps.

You'd have to check with your surgeon's office. It also vaies on self-pay
or insurance. Is the revision due to a mal-adjustment due to the surgery.
It varies.

Michael, the revision is because my band eroded, the port cord adhered to
internal organs and a fistula was formed that went from my stomach to my
left lung. A lot of adhesions and scar tissue are now there... couldn't do
the revision at the time of removal because my organs were to inflamed. It
has been 2 yrs since it was removed.
