When I would go to the doctor they would never weigh me I have Great west ins anyone else have this ins, and how can I get away with not having the past three years of posted weight from my doctor. I have a new doctor now, but How could I prove I have been obeese for more than 5 yrs. Any help with this ins would be appriciated — hlt1960 (posted on March 28, 2008)

Do you have any records from where you might have done a diet, with maybe
weight watchers or nutrisystem? Maybe a log you kept?

Normally when you see a doctor in his office or the hospital, they weigh
you and take your bp, and possibly your temp. Get ahold of those records
for proof. Annual checkups, ER visits, breast exams, any doctor visits.

Be sure that you are going to a doctor that does this type of surgery ALOT!
They will do all the right things that are needed for the surgery. A
"Center of Excellence" in gastric surgery is very important. This
is a level that they have reached according to the AMA for this type of
surgery. Just a general GP is not going to follow all the guidelines for
you insurance also.

Initially I did have Great West Insurance when I started going for the
surgery. I was concerned with the same issues you've mentioned. I went to
my OB-GYN, they had the best records because they do it all when you go. I
had to do the 6 month trial, saw a nutritionists and so forth, I compiled a
lot of my own paper work. As it turned out, my husbands company was bought
out and we went back to BCBS and I proceded down the path I had already
started to finish the process.
Good Luck to you, Leslie

First try famly photo's and have family members or freinds write a simple
document they have know you to be about the weight you are now for close to
it and know of your diets that have not been sucessfully in a given period
of time.
How about an previous doctor or a weight program that you may have been a
member of. I found lots of weight history files when I checked it out. If
anyone took a picture of you with a date on it, and it could be on the
process printing on the back, then you have that choice as well to at least
prve that it is not recent. Do you have any health issues that you have
been treated for because of your weight? Heart? Diabities? Best of
success to you.
