Question:
Odwalla
Hi, I'm a pre-op, soon to be postop, and I periodically enjoy a soy based protein drink made by the Odwalla company. The ingredients are: (per 8 oz serving) Soybeans Water Banana puree Agave nectar (cactus juice) Mango puree Dutch cocoa vanilla organic whole oats vitamins and minerals (calcium, magnesium, vitamin c, iron, vitamin e, niacin, zinc, copper, panthothenic acid, manganese, folic acid, vitamin a, vitamin b6, riboflavin, thiamine, biotin, iodine, chromium, selenium, vitamin b12 and vitamin d) calories 160 calories from fat 25 total fat 3 grams saturated fat 1 gram sodium 45 mg total carbs 27 grams dietary fiber 2 grams sugars 19 grams protein 5 grams If anyone with any experience with protein drinks or postop protein supplements can take a look at this list, and let me know if you think this would be an okay partial supplement, let me know. There are no refined sugars, its all from fruit, but it still might cause dumping, what do you think? Thanks, Elizabeth — Elizabeth M. (posted on October 7, 1999)

Never mind dumping, it's good if you do. But for me, 6g of sugar per
incident is the limit for maximum wt loss and maintenance. AFter 5 yrs of
avoiding sugar like the plauge, I am still weighing 112 lbs. I think it
works.

hi ..it's no wonder you like this "shake" it probaly tastes
wonderful with all that sugar ...I doubt you'll be able to tollerate that
much post op without it causeing some sort of reaction...but..even if it
doesnt, you should think seriously about it..if you're set on wanting a
protien suppliment, you should contact Michelle or someone about the
highest form you can get... 5 grams of protien and 19 grams of sugar isn't
really a suppliment...the one I use (when i can gag it down <LOL>)
has 21 grams of protien and 2 grams of sugar. I avoid sugar like the
plague...and have gone from 308 to 114 pounds and maintained that weight
now for 10 months
