Question:
Type II Diabetics out there, do you suffer from hypoglycemic symptoms after surgery?
Dieting has been so unsuccessful for me up to now b/c cutting back on my calories enough to lose weight causes me to get weak, sweaty and shaky. I'm concerned that this may happen after my RNY surgery. Can anyone speak to this? — momofjd89 (posted on April 12, 2010)

Every organ in your body will change with surgery. I was Diabetic and had
high blood pressure. My surgeon told me to stop all meds. post-op. My
blood sugar has been perfect, since surgery 6 months ago. My blood pressure
is also normal. Don't worry about something that may not ever occur.

Hypoglyemia after WLS is a risk...I know a few people who have it very
bad...I did not get it at all, but I eat every 3-4 hours anyway and I try
to eat lower glycemic foods as if I were still diabetic...My H1C was over 8
in the day before surgery...And within 3 days was normal...I have had an
average 5.4 H1C for 6 years PO...I do get a bit shaky though if I skip a
meal or snack...So, I don't skip!
