Your pouch is still healing and may not like cold. I still drink hot tea in the morning. I can drink ice water, but it does sometimes cramp up my stomach. I would call the surgeon again and if he doesn't seem concerned, ask him to explain what this could be. After all, he probably sees this all the time, but you need an explanantion of what could be going on. Just let him know you want to know what could be causing it because it is happening to you. Good luck.

I felt exactly the same at the 4 week mark and my doc did a dilation (blew up a balloon to expand) on my pouch. This was an instant fix for me. Ask your doc about maybe doing a dilation. If he-she says no, then maybe they will have another idea. good luck

I am 7 months out of vsg surgery and I too have trouble with water, it is better now that my doctor did a dilation but for some reason water is not easy for me. I would talk to your doctor and see what they think. Good luck... Things will get better and remember it's well worth it in the end.

Like everyone else here --- I had issues with water in the am as well. I had to start my day with hot tea to "loosen things up" before I drank my protein smoothie, etc. You are healing still and your pouch is new and trying to accommodate it's new digs and way of doing things. Give it some time. If it keeps up after a month to two months - I would see your doc. Also, remember SIP.After surgery I was soooooo thirsty and found myself more than sipping - I nipped it in the bud - just be careful and things will heal and you will feel better soon.

okay, I was getting concerned for you until you said ICE WATER! OMG! You will have to drink room temp water for awhile. I was able to drink cold water about 3 months out, but by then I was use to room temp water. Ice water or anything really cold or really hot will set your stomach to convulsing, very painful as you well know.
