Question:
For RNY'ers...What is the absolute BEST vitamin/supplement regimen to take daily?
I have been told so many differnt things about what vitamins and supplements we are supposed to take that I'm going bonkers. LOL Here is what I am taking now: (1) Bariatric Advantage Multi Formula with Antioxidants (2) Citrical petites (2 per day) (3) Vitron C Iron supplement (4) Biotin. Now, is this enough to keep me alive and well....or am I forgetting something??? Apparently, the nut./dieticians at the "Center Of Excellence" that I had my surgery at...don't know the difference between calcium carbonate & calcium citrate...and don't seem to know their own butts from a hole in the ground. lol Advice, please! What are YOU taking? Thanks! — PaulaJ (posted on July 15, 2009)

I like a combination - Bariatric Advantage Citrus for my multi, a chewable
Calcium that I get from a store called Max Muscle here in Denver, and B-12
and Biotin and extra D that I get from the Vitamin Shoppe. I buy the
Bariatric Advantage from their website....www.bariatricadvantage.com. It's
my personal feeling that people who've had WLS should use multi-vitamins
formulated specifically to meet the needs of their new, mal-absorbtive
system. There is another brand called Celebrate, and you can get
information about them from a website called bariatriceating.com but I have
not tried them. Why don't you ask your surgeon what he or she recommends?

My physician recommends 2 multivitamins, 2 calcium citrate, 1 vitamin D,
B12 every other day. I just buy the store brand and my labs have been
excellent. I am 8 mos post op

After trying a lot of different products, including Centrum adult
chewables, Vit. C, B-12, B-Complex with B-12, Biotin, Iron, Calcium,
Colace, Vit.D, liquid Multivitamin from Vitacost(yuck!), I ordered the
following chewies from www.bariatriceating.com - multi(2/day), calcium with
vit D and Magnesium(3/day), iron(1) and B-12 sublingual(1/day). In
addition I still take biotin 2/day(late starter to replenish hair loss),
colace-stool softener-2/twice daily), Vit. C. and B-complex-sublingually-
dailyI'm due for labs in August and I just recently starting taking my
vitamins more diligently than I have been in the past, so I'll see how
effective it's all been.

I'm 10 months out. I take a centrum multi vitamin every morning with
breakfast, and a calcium + D every day at lunch. All my blood work has
come back fine with levels where they should be.

My surgeon said he had never recommended a vitamin in his life but once he
saw what was in this one, he did. I take Vemma - it's a liquid and I only
take 2 oz a day. I also take 1 Citracal Petite and a B12 sublingual once a
day. I buy this at www.thevemmastop.com
My surgeons office also sells it but with shipping, it costs slightly more
than on line. And, it tastes pretty good!
