Question:
Does everyone need plastic surgery/TT after WLS?
I don't have a surgery date for WLS at this point but have had two other surgeries for non-WL issues- one involving small incisions to the stomach which made my stomach muscles worse/non existent. I have about 140lbs to lose. After have WLS (RNY) is plastic surgery ALWAYS necessary? — Misslady (posted on November 11, 2008)

Not always...Your age, skin memory/elasticity, genes, dumb luck all have a
lot to do with how your skin goes. But the majority either have plastics
or just live with the excess skin. I have gotten lucky...although I will
not lie and say that I would not benefit from plastics...I am far from
having perfect skin recovery, but I can and do live contently with my skins
outcome. I was 220-250 most of my 30's...I only got to 315 after quitting
smoking and thyroid disease which aided in a 100+ or - lb gain that
happened rapidly over a year or two and caused all my health problems...so
I had surgery only a little over a year after becoming 315 lbs...I was also
always very muscular and solid and I think that also helped in many ways.
MANY people have plastics and are so happy with their results...I'm
chicken! I do not want anymore surgery, EVER, if I can help it! But I never
say never!

I am 54 and lost 110 lbs. 5'7" I have lose skin on my arms, belly,
legs and inner thighs. My boobs have fallen and they can't get up. I am not
like the first poster who is living contented with her skin. My skin really
bothers me and all I think about is getting surgery. I do know that if you
are younger you don't have as much saggy skin, you probably wont be as bad
if you are young. Hope for the best.

It also depends on WHERE you carry your weight. Some women don't have big
tummys, they carry the weight elsewhere.
