Stop taking pills, take liquid medications. You should be on good
"liquid" vitamin / mineral supplement like VEMMA. Good for blood
pressure, prevent colds and has 1000
IU of vit. D3. Go to www.TrySomeVemma.com

I would check and see what your doctor recommends. Mucinex also makes a
nasal spray, but of course I doubt that will do much for a chest cold though.

Dear Alice...
You can take a any pill for cold as
long as is no bigger than a M&M candy...

Mucinex is equal to Robitussin liquid, just a higher dose and in pill form.
It can be crushed and spinkled in or on your food .

First, check with your doctor.
That said, I'm 2 1/2 mos out and take my mucinex whole and have been.
Walgreens has generic that is very "melty"--it doesn't seem to be
coated like the regular mucinex.
Also, I'm a Kaiser person and had to go through 6 mos worth of classes
before I'd be eligble for surgery. In the classes and on this board, it was
recommended not to crush pills because they may start dissolving on the way
down.
Another Godsend I've found is Delsym. I didn't see any High BP warning on
the label.
Neither Delsym nor Mucinex is on my no-no list, BUT just don't take the
timed-release one. I don't remember why we're not supposed to take
timed-release meds, but know they are a no-no.
Hope you feel better soon.

I was told ONLY to take Tylenol liquid for anything that ails me... nothing
else!
But check with your surgeon!

Hi Alice, sorry to hear you are not feeling well. MUCINEX is just an
expectorant. Although you could crush the tabs and put them in pudding or
applesauce, they should not irritate your stomach. The meds to avoid are
anti-inflammatories and several OTC combination cough and cold products might have naproxen or
ibuprofen in them - avoid these. Tylenol-containing products are ok. Of
course, water is a natural expectorant....just drink a little more and it
will help loosen those secretions....and help you save money instead of
buying MUCINEX. Good luck.

Chest Cold, Allergies, whatever it
is, I'm getting a lot of bronchial congestion myself for a few weeks now.
Benadryl only makes me sleepy and I wake up choked up. I hae had some
relief with something labeled Mucus Relief Cough by breaking it in half or
quarters and taking it. It's made by LNK International and I think my wife
found it at Wal-Mart. It's not a cure, but helps bring it up. I had my RNY
July 2nd 2008, so you should be okay, but I'd consult with my PCP or
surgeon to be safe. Any liquid will slide right out of your pouch, and
might not do you any good, although I certainly take a lot of liquid
medicine these days. Loritab, Tylenol Elixir, etc. If you find something
that works better, let me know PLEASE!

I hope you're feeling better by now, but an old aid for congestion is a cup
of hot tea sipped slowly. A little lemon in it helps too. My wife makes an
apple-cider vinegar/ lemon/ combination drink she serves sweetened with
Splenda and hot. It really cuts the mucus.
