I live in Texas and have medicaid here.Will medicaid pay if its causing health issuee
I am 32 yrs old and my blood pressure is up and my legs and feet hurt all the time because of my weight,will my medicais in Texas cover the lap band surgery if i qualify?I want to be here to raise my 2 beautiful children and I have heart didsease in my family.It scares me. — sharon1973 (posted on March 24, 2006)

HI SHARON I DO NOT LIVE IN TEXAS BUT I DO HAVE MEDICAID(GEORGIA) AND THEY
WILL PAY FOR THE RNY BUT WILL NOT PAY FOR THE LAPBAND MY SURGEON TOLD ME
THE STATE VIEWS THE LAPBAND AS AN EXPERIMENTAL SURGERY BUT I WOULD SAY CALL
MEDICAID AND ASK THEM THEY WILL TELL YOU EXACTLY WHICH WLS THEY PAY
FOR.GOOD LUCK!

I have two friends who were asked by Medicaid (Texas) asked to have the
surgery because they were costing too much money. So they went on with the
surgery, however, did they are not doing well because I think, they didn't
work for the surgery. In one year both of their weight their weight loss
amounts to 80 lbs (combined).

HI SHARON, i have medicare(ky) and they do pay fro the wls if you meet the
requirements,you have a 6mo supervised diet and co-morbits at less two. and
i also had to pay a small surgeons fee, but THANK THE LORD, now i'm on my
way, talk to you pcp and see if he or she can help you get started. mine
