Question:
Is this possibly my gallbladder or something else
I have had slight pain under right rib off and on for about a month. last tuesday the pain was so severe that it lasted 12 hours. pain is on right side just under the ribs, not in the chest area, but I do have pain in the back between the shoulder blades. As of today i get very sick feeling when i eat anything and have started having symptoms like i want to burp but can't. I go for a ultrasound for gallstones in 2 days . Does Gall stones or your gallbladder make you sick after you eat? and does it cause a burping sensation when you eat? pain is slight and constant in the rib cage area. any suggestions?? — rhondan (posted on October 20, 2003)

Rhonda, sounds like gallbladder trouble to me. I was never diagnosed with
it but everyone else in my family was. I am so thankful that my surgeon
took mine when he did my RNY. He said it was very diseased.

this sounds definately like a gallblader attack-I used to get them all the
time but I got my gallblader removed during my WLS. but I remember the
awful pains under rib cage and the trapped gas that hits between the
shoulder blades. I didn't have stones but my gallblader just acted up alot.
Good luck with your tests-I know how you feel! take care

I had gallbladder attacks a couple of years ago and it took three or four
months to get a proper diagnosis. What you describe does definitely sound
like possible gallbladder trouble. I'm glad you're getting the ultrasound
in 2 days, but hope your doc will follow up quickly if you turn out to have
gallstones. The pain can get quite severe if left untreated. I had my
gallbladder out lap, went home within a couple of hours of waking up, and
had no complications at all. I only hope my RNY goes as smoothly. Just
please stay on top of your doc if the diagnosis seems to stall. There's no
reason for you to put up with this pain, you have a right to press for
something to be done promptly.
Good luck, I hope the pain is resolved soon, one way or another,

It sounds like gallbladder. The same things happen to me. I have a
totally dysfunctional gallbladder and stones. The gallbladder will be
removed next month.

I had my gall bladder removed back in August and it sure sounds like some
of the attacks I had. An ultrasound may reveal stones, but if it doesn't
make sure they check the bile duct for stones as well. An attack lasting
that long may have the bile duct involved inthe problem. Symptoms of my
attacks were severe pain below the right ribcage, radiating to the back.
Pain in the lower right abdomin. Severe diarrhea, nausea, cold sweats and
nearly passing out. It's nothing to mess with.
