Question:
how much are you eating at 8 to 9 months?

how much are the average post ops eating at 8 to 9 months per meals??I can manage to eat about 3 oz of a soft food such as applesauce or yogurt, is this right on track or too little? solid foods i eat less per meal one bit and that is enough to fill my up . i can eat the toppings off a small slice of pizza and be extremly full.    — rhondan (posted on January 13, 2003)

I eat about 3 oz of protein and 1 tablespoon of rice, pototoe or mac and cheese and about 2 tablespoons of veggies. For lunch I have about 1/2 cup of salad with chicken on it about 3 oz. Some days I can eat more than others and some days, I can hardly get down 1 little egg.

HI Rhonda, It has been 9 months for me..And what a ride!!!I'm now able to eat just about anything in moderation. For example...In the morning I'll eat three crackers and cheese with a slice of tomatoe on it. Lunch i eat what ever i was unable to for dinner. Normaly some form of meat and veg. I would say about 3 oz on a good day. About 3pm I'll have a handfull of peanuts or more cheese. (love cheese)Hope this helps a little. Like the other post says sometimes i eat more one day than the next. It seems if I eat 4 small meals i tend to loose more weight. I started at 303 and i'm down to 169 pound total lose of 134 pounds and over ninty inches. So this is working for me. I just hope it continues. Hope this help somewhat.

Wow! You guys are doing great! I am jealous! I am 8 months post-op and can eat a lot more than you all! I can eat a full slice of pizza, and some days a third of a second slice. I am trying to stay away from bread, but occasionally have about 2/3 of a sandwich. If I have yogurt (full container), I am hungry an hour later! Would you guys mind sharing some meal suggestions with me? I wonder if I stretched my stomach or something! I'd appreciate talking to other 8/9 month post-ops! Thanks!

Rhonda, I am 11 months post-op but don't think I eat much differently than I did at 9 months. I have the same breakfast every am: 1 scrambled egg with 1/2 slice of melted cheese and 1 tablespoon veggie chili on top. For lunch, 1/2 of a meat sandwich with the bread crust removed, or about 3 oz of chicken or steak over salad. Dinner is 3/4 of a Lean Cuisine or 3-4 oz of grilled meat/fish/chicken with a bite or two of carb(rice, pasta) and a few bites of vegetables. Snacks include popcorn (2 cups or so at a time), a pudding cup with Kool whip, 1/2 a protein bar, a piece of fruit(small), handful of nuts, 1 oz of cheese on crackers or 3 or 4 mini chocolate chip cookies. I usually have 2 or 3 snacks a day. To me, it doesn't sound like you are eating enough! One bite of solid food at 9 months is definitely not enough. Are you getting in enough protein??

I'm 8 months out right now and I can eat a Lean Cuisine-sized portion of food. I can comfortably eat a whole slice of pizza and a restaurant-sized grilled cheese sandwich. I am able to eat these things with nothing else, however. I am also able to eat a Happy Meal from McDonalds. I know we're not supposed to be eating these things but I'm trying to give you real amounts of things that I am able to eat.

Lets see...I am 8 months out and today I ate: some yogurt mixed with granola and berries; a large slice of veggie pizza and some green beans; a soft pretzel; 1/2 a gyro sandwich (I could have eaten the whole thing no problem, but I didn't like it much); and a small movie theater popcorn. This is about average for me, but it seems like too much - I bypassed my Weight Watchers point alotment by like 3 or 4. God! And to think I used to feel so noble when three spoonfulls of soup filled me up - boy that stage is fleeting!
