Question:
Can you offer suggestions on how I can reach goal of 120 within 6

to 9 months? I remember mentioning to the board that I'm so *preoccupied* (not real crazy about the word "obsessed") with writing down EVERYTHING I eat and drink...I'm 5'2" with a starting weight of actually 265, but was down to about 235 when I became a member of AMOS. Then I went back up to about 248 or so prior to my surgery. Is this REALLY necessary to record everything? Some say yes, others say fthat I am going overboard. I want to do the right thing, I can't hardly concentrate on anything...please help! Thanks for listening.    — yourdivaness (posted on December 30, 2002)

Personally, I like to write everything down. On days where I think I'm eating too much, I can look back and see that I'm eating the same as always. I also write down my exercise. When I hit a plateau, I can look back over my exercise and it makes me feel better.

Ya know what, If it gives your head something to do besides think of food, then write everything down. Your not hurting yourself by keeping track! I was never told to keep track, and I never have. I've never taken measurments of myself either (which I do regreat somewhat now). But I'm a scale addict, I get on it several times a day....lol....! But ooohhh well what are ya gonna do. I think we just trade one addiction (food) for another (your food list, my scale)! Lap. RNY May23rd 2002 starting weight 287 -115lbs now 172lbs. Hoping to see 135 before my 1 year anniv. ;-)

Writing things down is a good way to look back to see if you have a problem and where you need to adjust your diet. It also allows you to see where all the calories/proteins/fats go in case you need an adjustment. I wrote everything down the first few months as my doctor wanted to see what I was eating, but then stopped doing it after a while and after he was assured I was eating right. Its just too much work for me to do. But nothing wrong with doing it!!
