Question:
What is the procedure for approval in VA if I have BCBS/Carefirst of MD?

I currently live in Virginia but I have BCBS/Carefirst. Will my claim go to the local office (Trigon) or will it go to the MD division. Would the VA or MD law regarding obesity surgery apply?? Are they easy to deal with??    — Angie M. (posted on August 8, 2002)

You PD should go to your home insurance, BC/BS of MD. Most BC/BS plans are members of the Blue Card system in which all billing claims are sent to the local BC/BS provider for processing. Your claim will be paid by BC/BS of MD. The PD and Pre-cert will have to go to BC MD since that is the actual insurance company. I do pre-certs for the doctors I work for and deall with this all the time. Hope this helps. If you need any further info feel free to email me.
