Question:
How do I know it's gone?
I was treated for an H. Pylori infection back in November 2001. My surgery is scheduled for June 2002 (LAP RNY). My stomach or something still hurts...almost like this dreaded infection is trying to come back. I'm thinking of calling the GI doctor or my PCP. I know I'll probably need to clear this REAL SOON, huh? What must I do? — yourdivaness (posted on March 27, 2002)

You can do a blood test or be scoped again. I'm with you, NO guessing!

Talk to your PCP about your symptoms. The test to detect H. Pylori is a
breath test. No blood or scoping is needed. It is simple and painless. The
test can be administered in the doc's office or he might send you to the
laboratory for the breath test. Hope this helps.
