Question:
nauseated every night
I had RNY last month. Every night around 7:30. I get nauseated and have the dry heaves. It last for about 2 1/2 hours. I have tried everything from eating, not eating, drinking something with sugar, drinking water etc. Nothing helps. I even take something for nausea before 7:30 to try to prevent it from happening. It doesn't help. I am starting to regret having the surgery. HELP!!!! — ndgirl1 (posted on June 25, 2012)

Unfortunately I don't have an answer, I had RNY on 06/06/12 and am also
starting to regret the decision. I feel nauseated every morning no matter
what time I wake up and the feeling always concludes with dry heaves. I
just had to post on your question because I too, am looking for some advice
or tips on avoiding/dealing with this.

Hello, I am 18 months post op RNY I TOO had nausea all the time for the
first 6 months still do from time to time it is normal. Your body is going
thru massive changes. Ask your doctor fir some nausea pills. They help a
lot . Keep up the fight it is so worth it. I am down over 200 lbs now and
have been keeping it off now for over 6 months I try never to break the
rules and if I do it's ok we are human just start new on the next meal.
Three rules to live by:
Journal food
Water,water,water
Protein first
Ohh and never drink while eating this is SO VERY IMPORTANT TO YOUR SUCCESS

I am not near as far out as you - but I have nausea almost non stop. I
have found that Reeds Ginger Candy chews ( I just suck on them) help
greatly. My son uses ginger for nausea he has for motion sickness - he
told me it helped him alot - so I tried them. They are 25 calories each -
so I break them in half. One half settles my tummy so I can sleep. Hope
this helps.

Thanks for the advice everyone. Through the process of elimination I found
out it was my restless leg medicine making me sick. I had it switched to
another one and I am a different person who can eat just about anything
with no problems. I hope all of you come out of this bad situation like I
did because the surgery is so worth it. Good luck!!!
