Question:
Has any Blue Cross Blue Shield Federal Employee been approved recently for Bariatric!

I noticed that everyone that had been approved for Bariatric Surgery on the message board was dated back in 2002 and 2003! Are there any more recent approvals like for 2009? Thank you sooo much for replying!    — Slendagail (posted on July 29, 2009)

All my paperwork went in yesterday to BC/BS FEP and I was told that they will respond within 5 working days. I was told that since I have followed all the steps -- which BC/BS FEP told me I needed to do when I first joined the program, that it will go through with no problem. I'm tentatively scheduled for surgery the week of 8/17 pending approval. Hope this helps. God luck!

I have BCBS and i work for the schools.(state) mine was submitted on a friday and i was called tuesday with an approval.my dr office said that it seemed BCBS approvals came back very quick sometimes the very next day.also said it seems pretty easy to get approved thur BCBS.best luck.i am one day out!

I'm also covered under the FEP Blue Cross/Blue Shield program. My approval was processed within a week.

I was told by both my surgeon and a phone rep of FEP BCBS that they did not do preapprovals. Now they won't cover the surgery.

I had my RNY in June and they sent for my auth a week before my scheduled surgery. BCBS Federal gave a response the day before my surgery. I didn't have any problems at all.

I have BCBS Fep and my RNY was last year. I started the process in June and had my surgery 8/28... My Dr office took care of everything. I didn't have any problems with any of the approvals.

Both my husband and I had our lap-band in 2007. His approval took 1 week and mine took almost two week. Our doctors office took care of everything soo we had all our ducks in a row when the request for approval was sent in. No problems here. Good luck!

I have BCBS FEP through the postal service and had lapband in Dec of last year. No problem with the insurance.

My surgeon's office put my paperwork in last Friday and I was approved today- I will be having my surgery on August 12th.
