Question:
I have no energy, I feel so fatigued......HELP!!!

Lately I have been so tired, I feel like I could sleep all the time. I feel great in the morning until like noon and than it is like a wave of tiredness. My arms and legs get weak and feel heavy and I could actually fall asleep at work. I am getting very worried. I had my surgery on April 3rd 2007 and have lost 88lbs. I need some advise, please help. my sister had this and found that her b-12 was very high due to taking too much b-12. I understand having low or high b-12 levels can cause your symptoms. get a blood test. shalmar

You need to get a complete blood count done, you could have a low count...this same thing happened to me - I was tired and sluggish even while on a relaxing vacation! Turns out I had a bleeding ulcer! Talk to your doctor and get a blood test done immediately.

Gosh I had my RNY on April 2nd 2007 and have lost 80lbs so you are doing wonderful. I am tired but not as tired as you sound. Are you getting your protein in each day? I start out each day drinking 25grams of protein with juice and go from there. But I do think since we have had such change and if your like me, no meat to speak of I do think are blood is probably low. Did you just get your blood work done at 6months? if so how was it? Where did you have your surgery done? Me in Ypsi, MI. at Barix clinic. Take care and good luck to you,

Alyson, you need some protein immediately. Get some Isopure protein at any GNC or Vitamin shoppe store and use it at least 2 times a day makes yourself a shake. One scoop of powder is about 55-60grams of protein. Sleepiness, fatigue, and hair loss, and energy loss is caused by a lack of protein. If you don't get some inside you soon you will shut down and be unable to function. You will find it hard to even get out of bed. Eat some protein filled foods like tuna or beans if you can until you can get to a store to buy some type of protein powder-you can buy tasteless, or Vanilla, Strawberry, or Chocolate. They aren't bad tasting at all and protein for us is a must since we have such a small pouch and can't eat much at one sitting. You must take your Vitamins too if you expect to get better. You need to do this for yourself or you will have more problems.

Please get your blood levels checked. It could be several different things.

First thing, talk to your doctor asap! Have him run a complete. full spectrum blood test to make sure all your levels are fine. Your iron and b-12 might be low or something might be out of whack. Good luck and God bless.

I find that I have days like this too (I'm 15mos. post op gastric bypass) whether I have a lot of protein or sleep...it's not always explainable, but I do know we have a NEED for LOTS of protein every day (my surgeon recommended 60grams at LEAST!!! I'd up your count and see if that helps...Keep Enjoying! Trish
