Question:
back pain
I have been having so much upper back pain. The pain is due to my breast. How do I get my onsurance to pay to have a lift. I would also like to have a lower body lift. But my insurance says I would have to have sores. I am a very clean person. I bath two times a day. I have no sores because I do keep myself clean. So how can I get the insurance to cover it. — bntfive (posted on January 23, 2007)

I would think that if a doctor says that your back pain is due to your
breast size, then the insurance would have to pay for it, because it would
be medically necessary. As for sore, I do not think they acutally mean
sore, as they do yeast infections that tend to grow from moisture on the
skin from folds of the skin. The can cause lacerations in the skin and can
be very painful. It really doesn't have much to do with cleanliness as
much as it has to do with moisture that is trapped and causes problems.
Good luck

A breast lift is usually cosmetic, a reduction is indicated if your breasts
are too heavy an dcasuing pain. I think it is a little bit offending that
you thnik anyone with sores is "not clean", I have never had one
but I know that is not the reason, it is usually because you have too much
extra skin hanging down.

Hello, im not sure what you mean by being clean or not clean and getting
sores but i to bath twice a day but have severe sores under my big stomach
skin from my weight, i haven't even had the wls yet. My doctor calls it a
skin yeast infection and i have to put ointment on it all day long, this is
due to moisture and as a result of me taking the baths during the day i may
not dry off quite as well as another does or that its because my skin just
creates the moisture on its own. But i assure you im a clean person. If you
do not get the sores it may be because you might not have as much skin as
some might. I also know that if your having back problems because of your
breast being so big then i would think there is a medical reason for the
lift/reduction i would look here on OH theres lots of places you can find
information, this is a great place to start thats for sure.
Good luck to you and please take care

I have the same problem you do. I get back pain from my breasts, but my
doc and my plastic surgeon both said my breasts are not longer big enough
to have the surgery. LOL - when they were bigger, they were firmer, and I
did not have back pain. /Since the surgery, I have more empty skin, they
sag, and I get back pain!

I know someone who had a breast reduction and a lift in 1991 due to back
pain and a condition which caused sweating under the breast'. She was not
overweight at the time, she just had extremelly large breasts. So, I am
positive insurance will pay for this condition if your physician documents
it properly. She had Blue Cross/Blue Shield at that time if it helps. As
far as the lower body lift is concerned, I can't help you. Sorry. But,
for those of you that have sores, try using cornstarch throughout the day
to keep you skin dry and protected. It soaks up the moisture and feels
nice.
