Question:
Has anyone had bad experiences with BCBS of Alabama?
My doctor's office submitted a letter for my pre-determination to BCBS of Alabama, it took them 7 weeks to inform me that they needed additional information only after I called them (no notification from them). I submitted the detailed letter from my PCP of supervised diets under his care since 2000 that were unsuccessful immediately. After they received the other information a week later it went back into medical review and has been there since 10/25/04. I spoke to a customer service rep with BCBS on 11/1/04 she told me to call back in two weeks she was kind of nasty I told her whatever I will be calling back on tomorrow if you dont want to give a status dont come to work becuase I will be calling. — hoperoberts (posted on November 2, 2004)

I have BC/BS of Alabama but I live in MD. I didn't have any problem at all.
But Maryland has an obesity law where large companies have to provide the
coverage.Good Luck!!

Good Luck! Be proactive and call them everyday. I used to work for BCBS
in medical determinations and I can tell you the cases would pile up.
Calling greases the wheel. If a Cust Svc Rep is nasty remind her that she
is there to serve you and ask her for her manager of the nurse case manager
and tell her you want to talk to them! Do not take no for an answer.

Hope, I have BCBS/AL. I was approved in one week. I think all of the drs.
that had to send in paperwork were the reason. They all had excellent
documentation and that is what BCBS/AL was looking for. Good luck...Judy

I have BCBS of AL and live in AR. I had no problems with them whatsoever.
I was approved in three weeks - seemed like a long time, but there were no
problems when it actually happened. Good luck!!!
