Question:
Curious About Biotin
Had RNY on 9/3/09, wanted to take Biotin from GNC, but my Nut said the pills are too large for pouch. How do you guys that take them that have had RNY, take them without any problem of them getting stuck? Can you crush them (yuck!) or cut them? Just curious is there one available that is small? Thanks for any responses! — Lisa1212 (posted on February 16, 2010)

gnc has 3 levels of biotin 600, 2500, 5000 mcg size and all in capsules so
you can break them open into water or whatever so just take very little
water where you can do it all at once and go for it.

from AllStarHealth.com. Best success.

I get mine at The Vitamin Shoppe... and they are tiny capsules that will
fit thru the stoma... but you have to take them with food as they are 1mg.

You can cut them & crush them but also take them with no more than 50mg
of zinc. It helps the body absorb the Biotin. Which will help in retaining
your hair and no only make your hair grow more quickly but also your Nails
too.

I get my Biotin from the Vitamin Shoppe (their brand). The capsules are
very tiny and they are 5 mg (5,000 mcg). They have not been an issue at
all with me. This is also true for the Vitamin D "pearls".... I
take 2,000 IU daily, and it is just a very tiny little oil capsule MAYBE
the size of a pencil eraser or a little smaller. Seems to me that most of
the Vitamin Shoppe stuff I get is significantly smaller or easier to take
than other brands. And, another nice thing, it's also less expensive for
the most part! AND, you can earn points for buying ANYTHING they sell,
whether it's their brand or not, including protein powder, vitamins, energy
bars, etc... and at the end of the year, you can get a gift certificate for
up to $50 off of any purchase at the store.
