Question:
Hair loss - Not a question but a statement!
I see so many postings regarding hairloss; what causes it and how can it be stopped. The answers range from taking biotin to doing nothing (because it is inevitable). The fact is this: Hair loss after surgery is due to many reasons: low iron, low protein, rapid changes in metabolism, and the stress of the surgery itself. We have to remember that our bodies have just been thrust into a new and totally unfamiliar situation! I'm sure anyone having experienced hair loss will vouch for the fact that it doesn't fall out right away. The reaction to the stress is delayed, our iron stores become depleted, our bodies start to burn our fat - remember - the pouch is still VERY tiny at this point and there is NO WAY we are going to be able to put into our bodies what it was used to for years! All of these things combined are contributing to the hair loss. I don't believe there is a way around it but I do believe that with paying close attention to the rules and getting as much of these nutrients as we can we can minimize the damage! — Pambylah (posted on August 22, 2008)

After a while, people figure this out...But new people come in daily and
have NO clue what the heck is going on...so you take the time to tell
people over ....and over.....and over again...This is what it must be like
being a kindergarten teacher and having a brand new set of kids every
year...Only the turn over rate here is daily! LOL Save your post and post
it again... in a few weeks when new people start popping in asking
questions...patience though...New people need the same respect and love and
kindness even though some of us are sick to death of the same question!
LOL Sometimes i want to pull my own hair out on this question...Then I
remember...it happened to me too and I was scared to death...You will
forever see hair loss questions....Now that you "get" the answer
and you understand it...you can explain it to someone who just doesn't
know...

A lot of hair loss is due to lack of minerals. You must get as many
vitamins and minerals as possible. Try a powerful "liquid' vitamin /
mineral supplement like VEMMA.
Go to www.TrySomeVemma.com You also need as much Vitamin D3 as possible.
Vemma has 1000 IU of Vit D3. Many other brands have only 400 IU

thank you :) so many people just tell other people to buy biotin -- they
don't educate on the many reasons why the hair falls out -- hair is made of
protein, not biotin -- i've lost my hair before due to medication
treatments - but i didn't lose any to WLS at all -- and yes it does grow
back

My nutritionist told me that the effects of insufficient protein intake
don't show up for 2-3 months, she stressed doing everything to get that
protein in. If your body doesn't have enough, it's going to choose
supplying muscle before hair.

some people on here act like they are experts because they are further out
then the rest of us. People that ask these questions are only trying to get
some relief or a common ground with all you pros. I recently asked a
question about hair loss because my dr did not tell me in the beginning
that this would happen. I totaly resent someone calling me a newbie.
Remember you were once also.
