Hair loss - Not a question but a statement!
I see so many postings regarding hairloss; what causes it and how can it be stopped. The answers range from taking biotin to doing nothing (because it is inevitable). The fact is this: Hair loss after surgery is due to many reasons: low iron, low protein, rapid changes in metabolism, and the stress of the surgery itself. We have to remember that our bodies have just been thrust into a new and totally unfamiliar situation! I'm sure anyone having experienced hair loss will vouch for the fact that it doesn't fall out right away. The reaction to the stress is delayed, our iron stores become depleted, our bodies start to burn our fat - remember - the pouch is still VERY tiny at this point and there is NO WAY we are going to be able to put into our bodies what it was used to for years! All of these things combined are contributing to the hair loss. I don't believe there is a way around it but I do believe that with paying close attention to the rules and getting as much of these nutrients as we can we can minimize the damage!
