Question:
Please....does anyone know what this is???
Ok, I really don't want this to sound gross, but I don't know how else to explain this, so here goes... I posted a couple of days ago about a very small drainage I was having that was just a clear/yellow liquid...no big deal... but today the stuff is different. This is now a thick yellow/white substance that looks just like bacon grease when it hits the toilet paper...same consitancy. There is no odor, no redness, no tenderness, no fever.... just this small amount of "lard" like substance! And it is coming from a very small "bubble" that formed on top of my already "healed" (I thought) incision line. Anyone have a clue as to what this is? It's just a "pin point" hole and a band-aid takes care of the drainage...but this is just strange! Any help would be appreciated. Thanx to all. Love and Light, — medium (posted on December 20, 2002)

Please call your doctor...any drainage or change in the incision should be
looked at by your surgeon, it is really important for your health. Its
just a phone call....best case is he tells you its nothing, worst case he
wants to see you (not really that bad after all!) GOOD LUCK!

I am not a medical professional, but I had the same thing. It was a stich
coming to the surface. I could feel something hard in the hole so I took
some tweesers and pulled it out far enough to cut it then pulled it the
rest of the way out. It didn't hurt. I treated it with antibiotic cream
and it was like the rest of my incision a couple of days later. By the
way, you do not have to go to your surgeon, your PCP should be able to help
as well. My surgeon is 2 hours away so I really didn't want to travel that
far for something so basic. GL!

CALL YOUR DOC! But it might be what I had. Fat sometimes necrotizes, that
is dies producing that yellow goo. More likely if your diabetic. Do call
your surgeon, mine got worse and he put me on antibiotics. The spots had to
be opened and drained and packed with antibiotic goo for a few days...
Definetely do get it checked.

Welcome to my world. I have the same problem but mine is a mess. I am
constantly having to change bandages and it is all over my gown and sheets.
My doctor told me it was normal that some people have it and some people
don't and I was the lucky one. He told me it was fat pockets next to the
skin on the inside and they were draining and it had to come out. Mine
started with on small place but now I 4 large places. He told me it would
last for about 3 weeks. You probably should call your doctor to let him
know what is going on he may have a remedy for you. I hope so for your
sake cause it is a pain to have to mess with this. I have to put thick
bandages on mine and tape them and then I lay a towel over the top of it
and it goes through it all. Hope yours don't get so bad. Hope this has
helped you.

I had that problem also. I was told by my surgeon that it's liquid fat!
