Question:
Has anyone experience
I am four weeks post-op Lap RNY. I had my period two weeks ago so I am not due for it for another two weeks. For the past 2 days I have been experience what feel like very bad menstrual cramps. I haven't had menstrual cramps since I was in high school. I don't know what to make of this. They don't seem to be related to my period so I'm wondering if they could be from something else. I have not had any problems with BM's (go regularly) so I don't think I am constipated. Any idea what this could be? — Elizabeth C. (posted on August 26, 2001)

Have you had any fertility and/or period problems in the past? If no,
remember that you can still get a monthly "period" but not
ovulate. And if you have children, it doesn't mean that you ovulate each
and every month. Based the timing after your period, it sounds like your
reproductive system might be trying to get back to normal after some weight
loss & you might be ovulating, or getting ready to. If you don't
ovulate very often, it's easy to forget what its like. Sorry to get graphic
& gross, but does your cervical/vaginal discharge look/feel like
eggwhite? If you pull it between your fingers, does it stretch an inch or
more & stay that way for a minute or two? If yes, then that's a sure
sign that you're ovulating, and you can get pregnant if you're not
careful!!! I learned about this stuff when I was trying to get pregnant
around 2 years ago and around the time I was ovulating (Clomid induced),
this is what it was like. Unfortuneately, I couldn't get pregnant. ANYWAY,
that's my guess as to what those cramps might be. It may be the uterine
lining building up again in preparation for for ovulation and a possible
resulting pregnancy. I'm not an M.D. & I may be totally wrong. So
PLEASE, go & see your dr to be safe! Good luck!
