Question:
Headaches : I am 12 days post-op from Plastic Surgery: Help me with this Headache!
I had hernia repair/abdominoplasty on 7/31. I was released to drive on Friday and went on a shopping spree Saturday. I totally overdid my first excursion. On Sunday afternoon I got a bad headache. A little lightheaded with it, and then the pain settled at the base of my skull a little to the right of center. It's tender there, and there is pain if I press on it. It subsided after sleeping Sunday night, but today I feel the pain again and pressure on the rest of my head. I called my surgeon's office and they don't feel it is related to surgery at all, but I haven't heard back from them yet. I am wondering if I am lacking a nutrient or something. My pain meds haven't helped it much. A friend said it could be sinus-related because of all the humidity. I just don't want it to be serious, and want some relief. Help! Thanks. — [Deactivated Member] (posted on August 13, 2001)

You do not say how you were anestisized (sp), but I had a spinal done for a
c-section and had sever headaches afterwords because I leaked from the
site where they put the needle in. I had a blood patch the next day to
"fill it in" and was fine. call them back if needed! Goodluck,

If you have a headache which persists, You NEED to call your medical doc.
A spinal headache is caused from loss of cerebral-spinal fluid (which
replenishes). If you had no problem initially, it is highly unlikely that
is the problem. Two weeks is also enough time for the fluid loss to
resolve it that had been the initial problem. Sounds like the sinus theory
is a good possibility. But, DO CALL your medical doc (PCP) if is
persistant.

I wonder if it is your pain meds. I had a terrible "rebound"
headache that only went away after I stopped taking them.
