Question:
Are there any other former smokers out there?

I'm about six months post-op and have done a good job so far with my eating and my weight loss. But I recently quit smoking, and since then I've been eating more and more. My weight loss has stopped entirely. I still can't eat anywhere near what I could before my surgery, but I'm not making the best choices and I'm grazing. I'm working on seeing a counselor, but unfortunately I can't get in to see her until late September. Does anyone have any ideas or advice? This is really beginning to bother me. It's embarrassing, too, even though I know others have gone through it. Any advice on how to get over this hurdle is appreciated.    — [Anonymous] (posted on August 6, 2001)

I quit smoking in january of 1999. I did the same thing. But what helped was that i went to weight watchers for 4 months. Now i had not had WLS until recently, but i think you could do the same thing. Get around others who are struggling and talk about your quitting cigarettes and the weight gain. They don't have to know you had WLS, but the group meetings might help and if others have feedback--you know the rest. Rose
