Question:
Why did I gain 7 pounds? 11 months post-op.
I am 11 months post op. As of last week I had lost 114 pounds. This week I weighed in gaining 7 pounds!!!! I know that I havent been very careful this week. I know that I made poor choices. BUT 7 POUNDS?????? What could have caused such a significant gain? — [Anonymous] (posted on July 16, 2001)

There is a possibility that it is fluid gain, especially if you are female.
Myself, I've have really bad fluid retension since at least 1993 after one
of my really bad surgeries.(They screwed something up bad in that one). And
if I miss my fluid pills for around three to four days I can EASILY loss
seven to twelve pounds in fluid. I know we ALL need to watch what we eat
and maybe that is why you gained, however it could be fluid as well. Watch
more carefully how you eat and if you do better with that and are still
gaining you better look into the possibility of fluid. Good luck.

First of all ~Great Job on the wieght loss!!!~ I am not sure
where you live but I know for me that the humidity and the heat
have an effect on my water retention. I can go 5-6 pounds up and
down in a day sometimes and at first I used to worry and
think that I was going to fail but after 11 months for me I know
that is just the way my body works- Even if you haven't been
"careful" this week it shouldn't make you gain 7 lbs there
could be many variables. Be sure to take in as much water as
humanly possible and up your activity level and see if that makes
a difference. Also I had read a posting about adding a little bit
more carbs to your food choices and that jump starts the process
again. Best of luck to you and take care....

Have you checked your mechanics first? Staple line disruption?
Overstretched pouch? These might do it, and are not "fault"
issues. More like a flat tire. Stuff happens. Then, the usual stuff.
60+g of protein supps, no milk, no sugars, no grazing, no drinking with
meals? So far, so good? When were your last labs?
