Question:
Everyone is dragging their feet, what should I do??
I had my consult with my surgeon on June 28th and assumed the letter would be sent out within the next few days. I called my insurance company a week later and found out they hadn't received it, when I called the doctor's office the receptionist said she was busy and wouldn't be able to get it out for about another week and a half!!! It's going on over two weeks and she said she'll have it out by the 16th "for sure." The problem is my company may be closing in the next month and I want to get this pushed through my insurance ASAP! What should I do?? — [Anonymous] (posted on July 12, 2001)

Be upfront w/ the clinic and let them know whats going on. See if you can
help in anyway etc. You mentioned your company may be closing.. do you
mean out of business and you will be losing your job? If so you should be
able to get COBRA benefits which is your same policy only you pay the
premium.. and granted that can be expensive.. but its better than paying
for the procedure by yourself. I wish you luck.. I hope all goes well.

YOU REALLY HAVE TO PUSH HARD. I WENT THRU MOST OF WHAT YOU ARE GOING THRU
AND IT HAS TAKEN ME 6 MONTHS OF WORKING ON THIS SURGERY AND THE PAST 12
WEEKS WORKING ON GETTING APPROVED THRU INS AND I AM STILL WAITING. COBRA
WILL BE YOUR BEST BET IT LOOKS LIKE. HANG IN THERE DON'T GIVE IN. IT IS
WELL WORTH THE WAIT.
