Question:
A Doctor in Chicago
I'm having seconds thoughts on going to BTC in Belvider. I'd prefer a surgeon closer to home,in Chicago. Can someone please help me? After I'm approved by BC/BS, would I be able to change surgeons? I thought the Hospital BTC used was only used for GPS. It's a regular hospital. I'd rather be closer to home. Please help me. — Tomaro P. (posted on July 6, 2001)

long time. For more information about Dr. Vitello, go to:

I am also a patient of Dr. Vitello. He is very nice and has done hundreds
of rny open. I too switched doctors. If you have the contact person and fax
number from your previous pre-certification request it will make things go
a lot smoother and quicker. My second approval came in 11 days. The
University of Illinois is a excellent facility. Just be prepared to wait
about two months to get to see him. He has people coming in from all over
the country. I wish you the best of luck. Feel free to e-mail me I am
waiting for my surgery in September. [email protected]

Go with Dr. Kane and his associates.. go through the WFL program.. I have
BCBS and have found that although the process is long.. they really are the
best and everything has been covered and it's been smooth sailing.. He is
out of Alexian Bros. hosp in Elk Grove

I had a wonderful experience at the University Of Illinois Hospital Chicago
with Dr. Vitello. He was very pleasent,to the point and on the day of the
surgery when I had second thoughts didnot try and talk me out of leaving.(I
had the surgery) The staff was fantastic and my stay was only 2 days.

I had Dr. John alverdy at the University of Chicago's Bernard Mitchell
Hospital on 55th and King Dr.(?) He is a wonderful surgeon, specializes in
Lap RNY and has a great follow-up plan. His office staff is dynamite and
the nurses in the hospital knew exactly how to take care of bariatric
patients. Maria
