Question:
Pre-op physical
I've always had a problem with my blood pressure being slightly elevated, but when I went today for my pre-op physical, my blood pressure was up 145/102 she thought that maybe it was the stress of getting ready for all that's taking place next week, so she put me on a low dose of blood pressure medication, and Xanax to relax me, has anyone else ever went through the elevated BP right befor surgury? — [Anonymous] (posted on May 14, 2001)

I had NEVER had high blood pressure and it was usually low. But the day I
went to see the surgeon it was the highest it has ever been! So I do think
it was the stress of the appointment in my case. Good luck!!

I have high BP but am taking meds. So it runs about 120/80. When I went
to have my EGD, it was 160/120. It's called white coat BP.

I too had a blood pressure that was very consistant. It was always 120/70.
I was amazed it was always so good, especially because of my weight. But,
in the last 2 years it has slowly creeped up. It's now reads 140/90 and
above, never lower. To me this was just one more indication (to prove to
the insurance) that the weight must come off. On top of that, I have a
family history of high blood pressure. Keep check on yours to make sure it
was just the stress of the appointment and not an ensuing health problem.
