Question:
Have you Ever Felt a
I am over a year post-op. Over the past several days, I have felt something like a "catch" beneath my breasts behind the top of my incision. If I bend way over or move a certain way when I'm in a sitting position, I feel the "catch". Not painful, but sort of like something moved on the inside. I probably wouldn't be so worried about it, but I have read some stories here lately of some post-ops who were around a year or more out having some problems. It could be nothing, but then it could be something. I've not really been exercising lately, but have had intimate relations for the first time in a long time. Could be coincidence, but it started happening after then. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks. — [Anonymous] (posted on May 10, 2001)

I have this same feeling, only I think of it more as a "click".
I've never mentioned it to my surgeon, because I didn't know how to
describe it, and it only happens every now and again. My is most noticable
when I'm standing and then I bend over, or turn from side to side. Of
course, I'm paranoid that it's my staples, but then, all of us postops are
paranoid about our staples coming undone! I think it's most likely
cartilige moving around near the xphoid process (that boney thing at the
very tip of your breast bone that sort of sticks out). I doubt that it had
much to do with your recent activities. If it continues and you're
concerned, don't hesitate to talk to your doc about it.

Could easily be just scar tissue bands inside. Tell our MD, but don't
worry much--Good Luck, Jesse

I have the same problem, I feel the click and catch. My breast bone (xyfoid
process) is sticking out two inches a year after surgery and it looks
awful. I went to my Dr. who can put me in the hospital overnight to cut the
bone but I am not sure if I want to do this. Is your bone sticking out at
all? I want to research this more.
