Question:
If ou didn't lose alot with your VBG, will you still lose slower with a revision?

I had a VBG in 1997 and lost about 60 lbs out of 150 lbs that I needed to lose. Now I have a staple leak and GERD and I have gained back all but 15 of the 60 lbs. I am having a revision to RNY and have been reading that revisions lose slower than "virgin" WLS patients. I've read that this has to do with the body being unwilling to be "tricked" into losing that quickly again. Since I never really lost much in the first place, is it possible that my body wasn't "tricked" and I might lose better and more quickly with my revision? I would appreciate any information! I had no problem with losing with my revision. A friend of mine on this site and I have pretty much kept pace with one another since our surgeries were only a week apart. Hers was a lap RNY, mine was an open VBG to RNY revision. My surgeon warned I could lose slower, but I am his exception to the rule.

I also should say my surgeon bypasses 75 cm. I would like to know how much you had bypassed, so I can see if that is a connection. Thanks again!
