Question:
Is there a test that a doc can do to measure the size of a person's pouch?
I was just wondering if there is a medical test that a doc can do to measure the capasity of the pouch? I am seven months out and at my one year anniversery I want to know what the size my pouch is now compared to what it was in the wee beginning. Which was 20ccs. Can this be done by a scope? or another test? Thanks — Alison B. (posted on March 29, 2001)

My surgeon did an upper GI and said everything is still the
same as the day he performed the surgery. I must admit that
is puzzling to me since I can eat a lot more now.

I have heard of a cottage cheese test. First thing in the morning eat as
much cottage cheese as you can in 3-5 minutes. the ounces of cottage cheese
you ate is the size of your pouch. It's easy if you start with a fresh
comtainer, eat, then measure whats left. You want to do this on an empty
stomach, which is why they say first thing in the morning. I had surgery
8-14-00, my test came out as 3.5 ounces. Hope this is helpful.
