Question:
4 weeks post op...Stomach always feels empty
I am 4 weeks post op and my doctor has said I can eat pretty much anything I can handle. For some reason though,my stomach always feels empty like I'm hungry...Is this just mental? People I've talked to say they never felt hungry at this point but I can eat something and a half hour later I start getting the empty feeling, even if I have lots of protein. Is this normal?? — Vel K. (posted on February 22, 2001)

At four weeks post op I was never hungry. I am almost 2 months post op now
and the only time I feel hungry is when I go too long without eating. I
don't know if my experience is typical or not.

Keep in mind that your body is trying to adjust to a heck of a lot fewer
calories than what it's used to. Are you getting in enough water and
enough vitamins? Our bodies tell us they're hungry when they aren't
getting enough of what they need. Maybe you're body isn't absorbing enough
of the protein that you're taking in...have you tried any protein
supplements?
