Question:
Is it possible to have hernia repair with 'saddle block'type anesthesia?
I am 9+ months post op, and have a hernia ... not a large one, but enough to limit my activity (now that I've lost 113 lbs, I don't want ANY limitations!). I'll have my little bit of excess abdominal skin removed at the same time, but no surgical work on tightening abdominal muscle. Any reason this can't be done with same anesthesia used for women having a c-section? I really don't want to be under general anesthesia if it can be avoided. Just call me 'chicken'. — Cynthia B. cynthia,
i had 2 hernia repairs, and both were done without general anesthisa. one i
had a spinal, and one i had an epidural, because i have astma and they
really didnt want to put me under, so yes you can do it that way. the
epidural was great, because its excellent for pain control after the
surgery also.
