Question:
Lower right side soreness/wheezing??

Hi Group... I need your help... I am almost 5 months post op from an Open RNY and gall bladder removal... up until about 4 days ago all was just fine.. but I have found that I have some tenderness/soreness in my lower right side when I breathe.. laugh.. cough.. or reach.. and sometimes when I am in bed on my stomach there is a wheezing/congestion sound coming from the same area.. I am waiting for a call back from my sugeon's office and I do have a follow up scheduled next week.. but I wanted to get some ideas for you all.. is it possible something is going on wih my lung? I don't smoke and I do exercise.. Well, Thanks in advance for your help...    — California J. (posted on January 28, 2000)

Common causes of right upper quadrant pain include acute cholecystitis (you said you had your gallbladder out so that rules this out) duodenal ulcer, hernia, hepatitis, enlarged and congested liver, acute pancreatitis, pyelonephritis (kidney infection), renal stone, pneumonia (on the right) and tube/ovarian abscess. With the wheezing you said you feel and hear, my guess pneumonia have you been coughing up pinkish mucus.. How has your strength and stamina been. Are you lethargic, tired, weak. Are you running a fever? Have you had pneumonia before.. Please get it checked out ASAP... Keep calling your doctor.

Hello Again Group.. I did hear from my surgeon's office... and he told me that the symptoms sounded unrelated to the surgery and more like my appendix and that I should have it checked out by my PCP... I do have an appointment with him on Monday... I'll find out then what's really going on... I don't have a fever and I am not coughing up anything... the pain is constant... the wheezing only happened when I was on my stomach but that has pretty much stopped as of today... I don't want to assume that the rest will fix itself though... the surgeon told me that if it gets worse to get to the emergency room... I want to say THANK YOU for the responses here and the e-mails I have received... I'll keep you all posted...

Hello All!!! I posted while back about having trouble breathing deeply, sneezing, coughing and moving without feeling discomfort in my lower right side.. well, I wanted to post and let ya know that all is well.. my PCP said he thinks I pulled a muscle (very possible-I carried something kinda heavy into my Mom's house about a week ago) I am soooo relieved :-) he told me if I was not better in a few days to call him and he'd set up an ultrasound oe chest x-ray for me... for now, I am resting with my heating pad :-) Thanks Again to all who responded here and via e-mail... ps Ava Lee you're the greatest!

These are the symptoms that I had with my pulmonary embolism. Thought it was just a side stitch that wouldn't go away after jogging. If the pain gets worse, go to the emergency room.
