Question:
What can I do to expedite the Insurance Wait?
I have been to my pcp and received my referral. All has been faxed to the insurance companies. Is there anything that I can do to expedite the procedures with them. How long is the average wait. My insurance companies are NYLCARE and Intercare (Beech Street)? — karen C. (posted on October 2, 1999)

I went to the Doctor on Sept. 8,1999 & they filed my paperwork to the
Insurance Co. on Sept. 13,1999. I was approved on Sept. 27,1999 now I'm
waiting on the hosiptal to make the arrangements. All I did was called once
a week & kept asking all kinds of questions & wanted to know how
far along everything was at & the people were very helpful & kind.
This computer was a real help. Just call them & ask you have a right to
know. Good Luck !!!! ([email protected]) Keep in touch.

Hi, I called my ins. co. they gave me the name and # of the
company who evaluates my claim. I contacted them to find
out if they had everything they needed to evaluate the claim
they were missing something and had not contacted the md,
so I contacted the md myself. I waited 2 weeks and called
back. They hadnt looked at it yet so I got the name of the
person who would be handling it and let them know I would
check back in 1 week to see if everything was in order. I
think that it helped because they knew I was going to be
checking on it. I didnt pester them, I asked them when would
be a good time to check back. They approved in 2 weeks of
having all the paperwork. Also I found out what they wanted
before I went to the md visit eg: psch evaluation which I
set up for before because I knew I would need it.
Find out what the ins. co. might need from the md, to make
sure you have everything when they send the request to the
ins. co. Hope this helps.

Hi Karen,
I too am having the surgery thru Neweigh with Dr. Ferrari. I feel we both
made a great choice of surgeons. As for the insurance, Neweigh asks that
you NOT call and they will call once a week for you. IF you can do that
GREAT, I wasn't able to do that. I called every other day and found out
they needed info and faxed it over to them and was approved the next day. I
didn't tell Neweigh I called them and I knew before they did that I was
approved...hehe Shhhhhhh! don't tell my secret
