Question:
Hep c any know if makes approval faster?
Ok I recently found out I have Hep c antibodies no active virse at this time by standerd test. I'll made my own appt to see a specalist, I felt it needed to be followed more closely and maybe a biopsy done. I have BC/BS they have requseted a 6 month doc supervised diet. I'm going to go ahead ad appeal with this new info. Because my thought is I can't take deit pills because of harm it can cause. I konow there are other ways. My main ? is did anyone find it easier to get approval because of past hep c — Bree H. (posted on April 27, 2005)

I don't know that it will speed an approval, I'm sure it will be one of
those things the insurance company is going to want to see more information
about. Are your enzymes OK, has your liver been damaged, things like that.
I've seen several people post that they are HCV positive and were able to
have surgery. Also, some surgical groups will not accept a patient that has
hepatitis C. Be sure and find a surgeon who is willing to go to bat for you
with the insurance company. Good luck!!!

Bree, I see no problems in getting an approval or denial because of Hep C.
I have had it for more than 15 years. My surgeon had no problem doing my
WLS, and he has done 2 biopsy's since, he now follows my liver enzymes
count also. I have to add, that since my WLS 9-3-03, my liver is at a
normal range, no signs of chirosis any more.I was taking 17 prescription
meds a day before and had taken 1 1/2 yrs of chemo type of shots for my Hep
C, to no avail. Now i am considered normal for the first time. Your welcome
to read my profile. Best of luck to you. Don't hesitate to e-mail if you
have any questions. Good luck on your journey to the losing side.
