Question:
21 months out, just had baby...
and I am breastfeeding. I just looked on: http://www.nutritiondata.com/ to find out where I could cut out some calories or add some more exercise to begin losing weight again .. it appears that I am suppose to be taking in 3200+ calories a day? I am hardly taking in 1200! I exercise 13+ hours a week (walking, pilates and general gym training), plus they say you burn 500 calories a day breastfeeding. I am not eating any junk (though, I do fancy a ritz cracker every so often) and I do still take in 16oz. of protein shakes and lots and lots of water. I have lost one pound in the past month and I have no idea what I am doing wrong. any suggestions? — Melinda D. (posted on April 17, 2005)

speaking as a lactation consultant. right now focus on eating as healthy as
possible, get in your calcium and protein, iron, etc. & drink enough
liquids. Your body needs to recover from childbirth, and rebuild its stores
of nutrients that were depleted with pregnancy. you will get into shape
again. If you do not eat enough your metabolism may be slowed down.
