Question:
Has anyone completed the multidisciplinary surgical preparatory regimen??
I have Aetna insurance, I see that you can cut 3 months off of your diet/exercise program by doing a multidisciplinary surgical preparatory regimen. I am trying to find out exactly what people did to get approved with this. I know they dont pay for nutritionalst if it for weight loss.. thats stupid! Any help would be appreciated!! — bawana (posted on March 30, 2005)

I have 45 days left of my 3 month multidisciplinary regiment with my
surgeon before we can even submit the request for apporval to Aetna. I go
in every 2 weeks, I'm following his required 1000 calorie diet. I'm
practicing no water with meals, small bites, recording everything that goes
in in a log, counting calories and proteins, journaling how I feel, and
obstacles I'm meeting along the way. If I don't lose or gain, he allows
one slip. If it happens twice, he will not operate but will refer you to
others. Oh, daily exercise and spirameter practice is also required. My
surgeon is the best, Chief of Surgery and has done over 1200 without ever
losing anyone or having infections etc. He will only do open but you go
home in 23 hours after checking in the hospital. Good Luck on your
journey. Started at 305/266 now Goal 125

I also have Aetna. I am in week 2 of the 3 month program. I am in
Columbus, Ohio and doing the Living Well program at OSU. It seems to be a
great program and meets Aetna's requirements. I would be interested in
chatting about Aetna's other requirements.
