Question:
I need some advise please on eating near goal
I'm 13 mos post op. I have lost 172 pounds. I still would like to lose another 10 or 20. Seems that I have stayed the same weight now for a while. I'm at 160. I am starting to wonder if i'm not eating enough. On the other hand I'm a bit afraid to eat more. I have not really checked but I think most days i'm under 1000 cal. Any thoughts on this? Thanks!! — luckyflowers (posted on July 31, 2004)

Everyone in my support group who has gone through a plateau says to either
eat less or exercise more and you should start to lose again. I think if
you were not eating enough you would be losing. Good luck.

If you are not eating enough your body will go into starvation mode, and
will hold on to whatever it can...there for you will not lose weight!!!!
Go to fitday.com and track your eating for a few days, check with your
doctor and find out your caloric intake should be. I know when I get below
1000 calories a day...I stop losing. Granted I have to really work hard at
getting that 1000 a day....but it makes the differance for me. When my
calories are low I will drink a Slim-fast Protein drink 180 calories, and
20g protein. Good luck

Cheryl,
I don't know your level of activity during the day. If you are exercising
frequently, you might not be eating enough. Experiment with adding some
high-quality protein foods. I am under goal by a little bit. What worked
for me is I exercise very intensely and eat about 1600 calories a day now.
When I was as close to you are to goal, I was eating about 1200-1300. Now,
again, only you know if your activity level warrants that. Also, make sure
you're getting enough water in. It will happen for you!!!
Hugs,
Chris L.
