Question:
At 11 months out how much food should you be consuming

Hi everyone, Let me start by saying that I had sugery may 22 of last year. I had my surgery in mexico and I don't have a dr. I live in the SF bay area. I have no medical ins. anymore so I went to the clinic but of course they did'nt have information about the surgery and couldn't answer my questions. I did have lab work done and everthing was fine and that was 2 months ago but now I feel tired all the time and could this be from low iron or what? I also have headaches. Since I don't have a dr. I read the posting alot to get information. I have lost 95lbs.My next question is how much should you be eating at one sitting is it less than a cup or when you feel full.    — TCP1918 B. Congrats on your loss! your B12 levels may be low, are you taking B12 SUBLINGUELE, or monthly injections? the one you just swollow will ot be absorbed in your tummy. Did they check your magnesium levels? Low mag can cause headaches. Hope you feel better soon. Enjoy the ride!

Dehydration can cause tiredness and headaches. 64 ounces minimum of fluid but more is better. Congrats on the 95 pounds, especially with no medical advice.

Can you educate the folks at your clinic about your WLS? Gather as much info together as you can from this website, and take it with you the next time you go. At the very least, they should be able to handle your routine blood work. I agree with the other posters, you may need to increase your fluid intake to help with the headaches, and low iron or B-12 could be the culprit as well. This is why you need to at least get blood work done. As for how much to eat, this varies so much that it's hard to put a number on it. I read a ton of posts from people who are much further out than I am, and they are eating a good bit less than I do, yet I'm still losing weight. So it's pretty hard to pinpoint amounts. Just listen to your body's signals as to fullness, and don't push it. Also, would you be able to get an email address or phone # for your doctor in Mexico? Perhaps he would be willing to keep a running conversation going with you, so that you could be monitored that way. Best wishes. Lap RNY 9/11/03, 270/175/???

The food question varies..you will eat less if the food is dense, like chicken breast, than if its soft, like chili. At one year post op, I could eat 1/2 a meat sandwich on multi-grain bread, 1/2 a chicken breast with a few bites of veggie, a couple of scrambled eggs..for example, per meal.

I also had my surgery in Mexico and was blessed with an AWESOME PCP to do my aftercare. She prescribed me injectable B-12 which suprisingly I don't mind giving myself and has me on a super vitamin regime. I take 2 centrum chewables and 2 chewable irons along with a monthly B-12 shot. I notice that if I run out of vitamins for a week or so, I too get headaches. All of my labs have been perfect. Also, I stay under 30g of carbs a day and get a minimum of 70g of protein, otherwise eating what I like. I am a year out this week and have NEVER felt better! Good luck to you! You don't say what labs you have had. There are many that can show problems that are not covered in the "traditional" labs for normies. If you would like to email me I can provide you with the name of a yahoo group that is great for answering questions like yours. Sandra

HI, My doctor, Dr.Halmi of Woodbridge VA says you should never go over 1 cup of food at a time. It will stretch your pouch. It is for the rest of your life. His web site is www.obesitysurgerycenter.net Good Luck and congrats on your loss. Ann
