Question:
Anyone had WLS who has endometriosis & pelvic adhesions?
I will hopefully have RNY surgery in a couple weeks. One concern: I have severe, Stage IV endometriosis with pelvic adhesions. During infertility treatment, I had a diagnostic lap, and the surgeon said it was bad -- all over my colon, my ovaries were pulled behind my uterus -- he called it a "frozen pelvis." When I had my C-section, the surgeon freed up a 3-inch section of my colon that was stuck behind my uterus in adhesions/scar tissue. Anybody have similar problems? Was your surgeon able to do WLS open or lap? Any complications/problems as a result of those pesky adhesions? Thanks for your help. — FrancieP (posted on April 8, 2004)

Yes, I had extensive endometriosis and adhesions found during my
hysterectomy 1 1/2 years ago. I was able to have my RNY laparoscopically
this past January although I was at higher risk to have needed it done
open.

Hi Francie,
I had severe adhesions from multiple dermoids, abdominal surgeries amd
hystorectomy. In fact during my hystrorectomy I had to have 7in of my
intestines freed up from my ovaries that had adherred to them from scaring.
I had open RNY 7/03 and I am down 85lbs. No complications.
Good Luck
