Question:
Has anyone been diagnosed with Heart Failure [enlarged heart] Post Surgery?
I have been diagnosed with CHF, I am 18 mos post op, and it's very frustrating to me because I am having a difficult time reaching my goal in part to not being able to exercise. I see a cardiologist at the end of this month, and hopefully they can give me the medication I need so that I can get back on track. The most frustrating thing is the water retention... I fluctuate a 10-30 pound weight gain seemingly overnight. — vjvgirl (posted on March 23, 2004)

I have chf. I had chf pre op and still have it. The standard meds should
help you. I take 120 mg of lasix a day. Chf is manageable. My main
motivation for wls was to lose enough weight to qualify for a heart
transplant. I think I may need a transplant someday, as my docs say
surgery wont help me. You should still lose pretty well. I have lost 85
pounds in 5 and a half months. I am only 23 pounds from my personal goal.
Anything under 200 pounds for me will be gravy.
