Question:
then just stopped?
I have not done a single thing different than I have from day one, and I have not lost in 4 weeks! my surgery was oct7, 2003 and I have lost 56 pounds and stopped! I drink more than 64 ounces of water, 70 grams of protein, and eat small amounts. A day conisist of this: sugar free carnation breakfast, 2 nectar shakes a day, tuna with egg, a couple of slices of cheddar cheese or cheese stick, lite yogurt, nuts( a few) and a piece of chicken or fish at dinner, or wendy's chilli. What is the problem? I walk 5 out of 7 days. The last 3 pounds I lost took almost a month! kim — KIM B. (posted on February 2, 2004)

Am I correct in my math? You're not quite four months post-op and you've
lost 56 pounds already? That sounds super to me. I checked and there is
nothing in your profile so I don't know what kind of surgery you had, where
you started, etc., but it sure seems you're doing the right thing. Did you
take your measurements? You might see that you've lost inches even though
the scale hasn't moved. You might try varying something in your daily
regimen. For example, add something new to what you're eating, try drinking
more water, add or substitute a different type of exercise, etc. Sometimes
we just need to shake up our bodies a little when we've been doing
virtually the same thing everyday and you might try counting calories for a
few days. Could be you need to eat more. At any rate, congrats on the 56
pounds..........that sounds great to me.

Ummmm, have you added up all the calories that you are ingesting in a day?
You may not be getting enough fuel into your body to sustain the activity
that you are doing. Keep in mind you are not on a true plateau unless you
are not loosing any inches or pounds for more than 4 weeks. One thing that
may be going on is that you body is just readjusting itself or taking a
break. It sometimes needs time to catch up with what is happening to it. Be
patient you will start to loose again.

Seems like you are running a little high in carbohydrates. Many of us in
our support group have found that it works to take a few days of reducing
your carb intake to no more than 20 grams a day and boosting your protein
to over 80 grams a day; this is akin to the Atkins Induction phase diet.
After about 3 days, most of us found that the weight loss started to kick
back in. And, then we could go back to a more reasonable daily
carbohydrate intake (which for me is about 45 grams a day).

If anything I thought your carbs were on the low side. I guess I'm just
starting to get irritated by all this less than 20g of carbs a day
nonsense.
A normal 2000 calories a day diet requires a rda of 300g of carbs. So 1000
cals = 150 carbs.
I'm at below 75g and my surgeon is just fine with that.
I wish everyone would get off the Atkins train. this isn't a diet it's a
lifestyle change.
You are dong great with your loss and plateaus are to be expected. I just
went thru a 3 week one, and one day had just water, protein and vitamins.
that was 10 days ago and I've lost 6 pounds.
My surgeons office suggested it, and it worked for me.

I don't have an answer for you, but I know exactly how you feel! You
basically posted my question for me. I was 252 and had lap rny on 10.27.03
and I'm stuck at 50 pounds. I'm DYING to get under the dreaded 200 mark
but I'm am stuck stuck stuck. Your food intake is very similar to mine
except for the CIB and shakes (they make me sick). At least you are
walking...I just started. (I know, very naughty). Anyway, hopefully if we
follow the advice of some of our fellow posters, we'll get the scale to
move again. Good luck! :)

I am with you...I had surgery 10/3/03 and lost 57 lbs. Today I am 4 months
out. I get in my protein, don't eat sugar, low carb, high protein. I do
eat more than most I think, although I dont' count calories. I am losing
my hair and that is about the only thing I am losing these days besides my
sanity. I am so depressed and just wish I could lose. I go to a gym 5
mornings a week for 1 1/2 hrs at a time. Some suggestions please....

Well, Steve, I guess I'll tell my surgeon she's a lunatic next week, and
see if she'll agree. I would have thought that she was kind of an expert,
as it;s her job and so is succesfull weight loss follow up visits.....
