Question:
does tri care comsider pcos as a co-morbidity???
my insurance is tri-care prime, i have a refferal to a wls surgion. per tri-care's definition i am 100# overweight but have not been diagnosed with any of the listed co-morbidities. i just fall short of the 200% of your "ideal weight". I have been diagnosed with pcos, along with that i have insulin resistance. Has anyone had any luck with tricare aproving the wls because of pcos or insulin resistance? — Rachel S. My sister has PCOS. Obesity is a co-morbid of PCOS. People with PCOS
usually have a hard time losing because insulin resistance is a documented
medical side effect of PCOS. Her Dr had her use it as a co-morbid with UHC.

in response to Maggie. My insurance company (tricare) is very specific on
what co-morbids are allowable for them to cover the surgery. but i am
definatly putting information together in advance should i have to appeal.
and believe me the information you just listed is going into that appeal.
thanks for your response. thanks to everyone for your response!!!

Tricare really only cares about you being 100lbs overweight... As long as
you are at least 100lbs over weight, you should have no problems getting
approval..... Don't stress. Tricare, is one of the easiest Ins. for
approval with WLS...

I have Tricare Standard, and had no problem getting approval. If Tricare
recommened the Dr. Then you will probably not have to worry about getting
approved.
Good luck
