Question:
Can you begin dumping at 6 mos post-op?
Up until very recently, I have been able to eat whatever I want. I am careful about it though. Now I am having what I imagine is a slight dumping effect with certain foods that I have been eating all along. Can dumping just start up one day after six mos of not dumping? Thanks a bunch, Michelle :) LapRNY 7/9/03 270/177/130 — Michelle_S (posted on January 14, 2004)

At about 6 months, most people notice the ability to eat more than usual.
Do you thing that maybe you are able to eat more of the foods that make you
dump...therefore eating more grams of sugar or whatever. I know that in
the begining I could eat 13g of sugar before I would dump. (sad that I
knew that) Up until now you have been able to eat, lets say, ice cream w/o
dumping. But if you are now able to eat a larger quantiy..you may be
consuming more grams of sugar. I know with me, there was a fine line with
the grams of sugar, 13 = no dump, 14 = dump. One more bite would put me
over the edge. Just a thought. Rebecca 10/03/01 265/140

Yes! I dumped for the first time at 7 months. I had had a very busy day
and not eaten in a long time so I had three Healthy Choice ice cream
sandwiches and went to bed. (Yes, it was a ridiculous choice - but, sad to
say, I had done this before.) About 30 minutes later I woke up with severe
abdominal cramping, barely made it to the bathroom in time and was sweating
up a storm.
I thought I had some awful flu or food poisoning. It took me until morning
to realize I DUMPED! Felt like a dope, but this knowledge has been a help
- another tool. Every day is a new day with this miraculous surgery!
