Question:
Scalp Itching- Does anybody have any thoughts about what is causing it?
I am a little over 2 months post-op. About 2 weeks ago, I noticed small bumps on my scalp (that have spread) and itch like the dickens. I have not changes hair care products. I eat a minimum of 64 oz of protein a day, drink more than 64 oz of water and take all the vitamins required as well as biotin. My first thought was an allergic reaction, took benedryl but it did not help. Have an appointment with the Dermatologist next week but just curious if others have had this problem and what the cause might be. I have never had this problem before. — Debbie P. Hi Debbie: I got an itchy scalp once when I took vicodine, but I don't
think there were any bumps. It also only lasted as long as the drugs were
working, so a couple of hours maybe. Can't imagine why you'd have bumps
and itch, but I hope you'll come back and let us know when you figure it
out. Good luck. Sherry

Hi Debbie,
I do not have a problem with bumps and itching on my scalp, but on my
feet...Went to my primary care doc and was diagnosed with eczema. He said
it has to do with allergies and the the 2 surgeries that I had this year.
This could be what is happening to you. I use a hydrcortizone cream on my
feet but do not know what you can use on your scalp. your dermotologist
will know best...Good luck and don't scratch. That is the hardest.

I had a problem with the hair care products I used regularly pre-op.
Hormones don't know which end is up (or at least mine didn't) while in the
rapid loss stage of this journey. My bumps didn't itch per se, instead
they were more like a pimple. I changed products for a short time until
things calmed down. When my weight loss steadied I went back to the stuff
I really like and have been fine ever since.
Your situation doesn't sound exactly the same, but keep faith that things
will work out. Going to a dermatologist just to be on the safe side is a
great idea!
Best wishes!
