Question:
Shave pubic area before LBL surgery?
I completely forgot to ask my surgeon if I should shave my pubic area prior to my lower body lift on Monday 29th. He covered all other impt aspects of the procedure and answered all my questions yet this one cropped up after I returned home. Any suggestions? — Vicki S. (posted on December 23, 2003)

I was told prior to hernia surgery not to shave the are. The reasons given
were: 1) that I might nick it and cause slight infection, and 2) that if
they shaved it immediately before surgery it acted as another means of
cleansing the area by scraping off a layer of bacteria and germs.
Let them do the shaving. That is why they get the big bucks, lol.

VERY good question. I am 8 days away from my Tummy Tuck and I am
pretty....uh.. hirsute down there. I was wondering the SAME exact thing!
I forgot to ask the doctor. I am having a pubic lift too. I guess I need
to at least "trim" it or they will dull about 5 razors trying to
get it all! LMAO. Maybe I should clip it kind of close.. where it is
stubbly.. and let them do the rest? I am anxious to see the answers! Good
luck to you! I am on the 31st~!!

My PS shaved anything that needed to be shaved. I still had my pubic hair
after my body lift

I just came out of a LBL on Friday, and they did not tell me to shave my
pubic area, nor did they.

If anything needs shaving, they will do it right before the surgery . . .
